Die Ärmchenbeile der Iberischen Halbinsel. Eine Gegenüberstellung verschiedener Typengliederungen

Abstract

This paper deals with lugged axes of the Iberian Peninsula and consists of two parts. In the first, the axes are classified by typology using conventional methods. This typology is part of a more general one which covers all the bronze and iron lugged axes. The use of the tool and the possibilities of adding a handle, between which there exists a close relationship, together with the different chronology, are also discussed. In the second part of the paper, statistical methods are used as a means to achieve a morphological classification of the axes. An analysis of the statistical methods is also presented. Finally, the two methods used in this work are compared.
