Abstract
Original title: Das Amphiglyphon der Akademie
This study investigates the interpretation of the amphiglyphon that has been found in the area of Plato’s Academy. On side A, Athena Polias is depicted in her capacity as protector of the city. The fragmentary condition makes interpretation of side B difficult: in the author’s view it shows the centauromachy. The paper goes on to analyse particular hermeneutic aspects.
