Persistente IDs für Bohrkerne und Proben – IGSN für die Archäologie

Abstract
The short paper presents the application of the International Generic Sample Number (IGSN) as a Persistent Identifier (PID) for drill cores and (sediment) samples from archaeological contexts. Coring as a minimally invasive archaeological method and the soil as an archaeological archive are becoming increasingly important. This method has become more established at the RGK in recent years. It was therefore all the more important to integrate this field research method into a sustainable concept of research data management. IGSN offers a system that is already established in the geosciences, which follows the FAIR principles and is also suitable for archaeological contexts.
