Synopsis
Original title: Das phokische Koinon zwischen Böotien, Delphi, Athen und Rom
Abstract This paper discusses the structure and tasks of the Phocian koinon under Roman rule. This merging of cities is well documented by inscriptions, especially during the Imperial Period. A fter a discussion of the scattered evidence, it is contented that not only Rome maintained an interest of keeping the koinon as a contact in the region, but that the regular meetings also offered members of the provincial ›elite‹ a place to present and consolidate their own status.
