Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a set of ceramic items from a wrecksite of the fourth century BC. The archaeological context of high scientific interest is parallel to the well-known wreck of El Sec located in the bay of Palma (Mallorca). Their study provides new insights for the understanding of the mechanisms in Mediterranean trade at this time. The main focus lies on the distribution of elements of long haul, such as Attic pottery and Greek amphorae of east Mediterranean provenience and their integration with materials of the Punic orbit of Carthage; considering again the role played within them by the port of Ibiza.

Keywords:

Wrecksite, Attic pottery, Aegean amphorae, western Mediterranean
