Abstract

Last 2011, a group of three seated sculptures appeared in Torreparedones (Baena, Córdoba). One of them represents a unique copy in sculpture, known as DIVUS AUGUSTUS PATER. This project analyses this sculpture from a typological, iconographic and stylistic points of view, as well as the origins, the type formation, its evolution and the makers that took part in its creation. This type is essentially used in coins representing emperors who have reached the consecration for the first two centuries of our age. Besides, this is only known in a relief in Constantine Arch, an ivory diptych and the sculpture studied here, which is in an excellent preservation.
