Abstract
In 2022, new excavations have begun on the western slope in the Upper City of Boğazköy-Ḫattuša, a largely unexplored part of the Hittite capital. Extensive geophysical prospections are the starting-point for the excavations, which will assess the Hittite architectural remains and their chronology, particularly in relation to the two nearby city gates. The work carried out so far has revealed the typical layout of a Hittite temple with an adjoining workshop, as well as the remains of another monumental building. In addition, parallel excavations on the nearby city wall have provided important clues to unresolved dating issues.
