Abstract

The Protogeometric and Geometric periods (ca. 1050 to 700 BC) represent a key epoch in the study of the sanctuary of Kalapodi (Phocis, Greece), as they provide evidence of the continuous use of the cult site from the Bronze Age to the historic period. The fine pottery from the excavations carried out by the German Archaeological Institute since the 1970s is being contextually analysed in a recently launched project. The 2023 documentation campaign yielded the first representative results regarding the composition of the vessel repertoire used in the sanctuary and information regarding the chronology as well as the horizontal and vertical stratigraphy of the site.
