Abstract

From 2016 to 2018, the remains of a large central sanctuary of the Roman civitas-capital Nida were excavated in the city of Frankfurt am Main. It is one of the best preserved and most extensively studied Roman sacral areas in Germany and produced a large quantity of finds. As part of this study, this study analysed the remains of 65 brooches from the sanctuary area, inventorised these finds and recorded them in the database of the central archive of the city of Frankfurt. The first results provide a solid basis for comparing this collection of fibulas with similar material in other areas of the Nida complex (e. g. settlement, necropolis) and for further study on cult and deposition practices within the sanctuary areas.
