Resumen

In response to a recent article by Ch. Schuler, the author first argues in detail for Athens that the word dioikesis refers to regular administration in general, particularly to the funding of it, and sometimes by extension to the actual monies used to fund it; but it was not the name of a particular treasury, and the officials epi tei dioikesei were not the controllers of a treasury with that title or any other. He continues reconsidering the texts from various hellenistic states studied by Schuler, and argues that here too dioikesis has the same range of meanings; some states may have funded their regular administration from a single treasury, but the use of the word dioikesis does not prove that they did so, and dioikesis was not the title of that treasury.
