Abstract
This contribution examines the temple on the top of the Ardettos hill, which Herodes Atticus from Marathon, in the middle of the second century A.D., had built in honour of Tyche Poleos. The study is structured in three parts: the first on the archaeological and documentary sources; the second on the development of the Tyche cult in Athens; the third on the religious and socio-political implications of the cult of Tyche Poleos in Athens.
