Abstract

On its 130th birthday, the Archäologischer Anzeiger, a journal rich in tradition, will take an important step forward into the digital future. From now on its printed version will be simultaneously accompanied by a redesigned and open access digital version. The journal can now be consulted by a much larger readership worldwide than before and supports a faster and more effective international scholarly exchange and collaboration. An internet connection is all it takes to be able to read a contribution in the Archäologischer Anzeiger on the day of its publication, everywhere on the globe, and independently of the individual possibilities to visit a well-equipped specialist library. The Anzeiger will fit into the open online infrastructure of the iDAI.world, the comprehensive digital research environment of the German Archaeological Institute.
