Abstract

Still preserved on numerous marble statues from Graeco-Roman antiquity are apertures that were originally intended for the fitting of attachments. This article examines three statues from Baetica whose apertures indicate that they were decorated with attachments in the Roman period. It so happens that all three objects are depictions of Mars, and all were found in the province of Seville (Andalusia, Spain).
