Abstract
The article presents a dissertation project, initiated in 2024, focused on the study of the Roman amphitheater of Syracuse. The research follows an interdisciplinary approach based on methods of archaeological building research, such as surveying, architectural documentation, and the analysis and interpretation of the collected data. The goal of the project is to address previously unanswered questions in the existing research on this significant monument, shedding new light on its history. The key areas of investigation include the different construction and usage phases of the amphitheater, the analysis of its technical features and hydraulic infrastructure, and the acquisition of new insights into the accessibility of specific areas of the Amphitheater.
