Abstract

In this article, a recently discovered cave site named İnarası is presented that is located in the highlands of the antique region of Pisidia. The comparison of the prehistoric ceramic finds from İnarası with the nearby excavated settlements in the Antalya-Burdur region revealed close affinities in wares and shapes, allowing a dating of the collected material to the Chalcolithic period. The geographical location of this site in the Pisidian mountains is exceptional and differs from all other known settlement types which are usually located in the fertile plains. Especially during the Chalcolithic period an increasing use of cave sites can be observed in Southwestern Anatolia, calling for a special function of this type of site.
