Abstract

During a systematic survey on the hill of Keber Tepe, the ancient settlement of Doliche, several Roman iron objects were found north of the bath, including a razor and a pair of hair cutting blades. Structures of organic material on the blades suggest that they were not exposed for a long time. The razor blade derives from western traditions, while the twin blades are an invention of the east. Both together belonged to the equipment of a barber; together with two cloths they were probably kept in a box. The find spot near the bath allows the assumption that the barber offered his services in the building or in the vicinity.
