Abstract

The small cuneiform tablet EBo 68, which was confiscated near Boğazkale by police in 1997, is a Middle Hittite letter to the queen. The name of the sender is Bappu, probably the name of a woman. The text of the short communication shows a number of unusual orthographic and linguistic features. Apart from messages sent by queens, women’s letters are extremely rare in the Hittite text record.
