Abstract
The field research conducted since 1997 in and around the ancient city of Tavium as part of the »Tavium International Research Project« under the overall direction of K. Strobel concluded with the 2009 campaign. The Archaeological Institute of the University of Grazis expected to continue the excavation project at the site. This article presents the results of fieldwalking in the years 2006–2009, which supplement and complete the previous report in IstMitt 57. The two most important sites, Cihanpaşa-Kaletepe and Yassıhüyük Külpeşe, were investigated more thoroughly. The Kaletepe site is characterized by a Hittite structure with monumental walls and reuse in the Iron Age. Yassıhüyük is also a Hittite site with a central building complex and subsequent Iron Age use. At both places a topographic record was produced and intensive field-walking undertaken. Research at Yassıhüyük is being carried out by the Italian partners, the universities of Udine and Verona. Details on the construction of an Iron Age tumulus were documented on the basis of an illicit excavation.
