Abstract
Since the publication of the building reports from Didyma by Albert Rehm (1958), three new texts have been published, which allow us particularly to understand better the completion of the sekos. Additionally, alterations to the list of Milesian stephanephoroi as reconstructed by Rehm have been proposed.
This essay rearranges the building reports, taking into account the more recent discoveries and research, and examines the consequences for the building’s history in an attempt to connect the terminology mentioned in the texts with the architectural elements of the Temple of Apollo, particularly the terminology for the uppermost courses of the sekos, which can be determined precisely and whose completion can be well dated. Based on architectural considerations, a new sequence of the Milesian stephanephoroi between 190 and 170 B.C. is also proposed.
