Zur Chronologie des Dionysos-Heiligtums von Milet

Abstract

The sanctuary of Dionysos at Miletus was excavated in the years 1973–1975 under the direction of Wolfgang Müller-Wiener but not subsequently published. The chronology of the sanctuary that was developed in this connection is problematic in various points in the light of new research results on the development of the city of Miletus and its sanctuaries. This essay seeks parallels to construction phases of the sanctuary of Dionysos within the Milesian sacral landscape and thus subjects the chronological framework developed by Müller-Wiener to critical scrutiny.
