Abstract

This paper publishes 15 new inscriptions from the great baths and the theater: 1) An honorary inscription for a hitherto unknown priest of Kronos, who also held offices in the Hellenistic Lycian League, is the oldest attestation of a cult of Kronos at Tlos. 2) and 3) The lyciarch Ti. Claudius Ktesikles and his unknown daughter, a priestess of the Lycian League, were involved in furnishing the great baths. 4) and 5) Ti. Aelius Harpalos and M. Claudius Herakleides are the first archiprophetai of Kronos known to us. 6) Another block of the inscription published as TAM II 587 reveals that the text is an honorary inscription for the athlete M. Aurelius Epaphrodeitos and supplements the previously known list of victories. 7), 13)–15), possibly also 8), are fragments of new inscriptions listing victors in the Kroneia. 9) The hitherto unknown governor Flavius Terentius Epidaurius is honoured for his efforts in renotivating the Constantinian baths. 10)–15) The family of Ti. Marcius Deiotarianus and his wife – – –ia Tlepolemis appears in honorary and victory inscriptions found at the theatre, mainly through their presumed son Ti. Marcius Titianus Deiotarianus, citizen of Tlos and Balbura.
