Abstract
Publication of a fragmentary letter written to Limyra soon after its occupation by Antiochos’ III troops and navy in 197 BC. The author, one of the most prominent collaborators of the king, is acting in close contact with other Seleucid top officials (the τεταγμένος ἐπὶ τῆς πόλεως, the τεταγμένος ἐπὶ τῶν πραγμάτων) and promises the city (town and country) some relief of the occupation regime. It seems that Limyra has already a βουλή, a city gate located next to an extra-urban Thesmophorion is to be reopened, the gymnasion shared by billeted Seleucid soldiers and civilians is given back to the city, its free inhabitants will, in their entirety, have to take part in the royal cult.
