Abstract

In 2014, two inscribed and two anepigraphic milestones of different sizes were discovered near Obervintl, located in the Puster valley of South Tyrol. The two previously unpublished milestone inscriptions with the names of the emperors Severus Alexander and Probus are presented and assessed in the context of the installation practice of milestones in the 3rd century AD. As hitherto epigraphically unattested feature Severus Alexander is addressed as tantus princeps.
