Der Tod des Germanicus und seine epigraphische Dokumentation: Ein neues Exemplar des senatus consultum de Cn. Pisone patre aus Genf

Abstract

A hitherto unknown fragment from Geneva must be identified as part of the first securely attested copy of the senatus consultum de Cn. Pisone patre from outside Baetica. The fragment was perhaps carried off to Geneva at the end of the 3^rd century AD together with other spolia from the Colonia Iulia Equestris. The new example puts somewhat into perspective previous finds from Southern Spain. Alongside the initiative of governors, the independent initiative of cities should also be taken into consideration.
