Synopsis
Abstract Because the oracle sanctuary of Apollon of Abai near the modern village of Kalapodi Phthiotidas had escaped excavations in the pioneer years of Greek archaeology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, modern meticulous excavation methods used in the excavations that began in 1973 have made the identification of rituals connected with the building activities possible in ways rarely observed before: The ritual burial of temples, depositions of votives on ruined temples, as well as the offerings of tools accompanying building activities.
Keywords votive depositions, destroyed temples, offerings of tools, building activities, Abai/Kalapodi
