Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the funerary contexts recovered at the colonial Phoenician
cemetery of Laurita, in Almuñécar (Granada, Spain). The reference will be the new
corpus of information produced by al-Bass, the cemetery of Tyre during the Iron Age. This
new data regards the nature of the funerary ceramic set in the Metropolis. At the same time,
it has also contributed to a better understanding of the sequential and chronological nature
of the Phoenician ceramic repertoire.
The result of this analysis is twofold. First, the compositional character of the funerary
deposits recovered at Laurita is consistent with the Metropolitan evidence. In second place,
these contexts display clear connections with the later stage of the Phoenician Late Iron Age,
which is dated in the 7th century B. C.
