Abstract
The Chancellor’s House in the summer residence of the German Ambassador in Tarabya is one of the few remaining historic wooden houses on the Bosporus that has maintained its original identity. Based on a thorough building survey and research in the Political Archive of the Federal Foreign Office, its constructional and design features, its location, its layout, its façade design, the construction of the basement, the timber construction and the roof, are described and compared with other wooden houses in Istanbul.
