Abstract
In the 2021 Pergamon excavation campaign, investigations were carried out on the Roman ruins east of the Selinos in Pergamon as part of the TransPergMicro project of the German Archaeological Institute. The construction survey plans form the basis for a comprehensive construction analysis, which provided information about the construction process and the construction technique of the large Roman building. The extent of the building as well as the niche wall along Eski-Kozak Street is reconstructed based on the detailed documentation of the building structure, descriptions by earlier travellers and the historical drawings by the Swiss architect Paul Schazmann from 1908. The nearly identical building technique of the amphitheatre and the ruins east of the Selinos suggests a common building programme, about which further insights may hopefully be gained through future investigations of the unexplored Roman buildings in Pergamon.
