Abstract
During the Middle Bronze Age in central Anatolia urban centres appear in close connection with the establishment of the old Assyrian trade network. Archaeological structures and artefacts from Boğazköy reveal the seat of one of these colonies, which is involved as an urban centre in a dynamic regional economy. Through the analysis of architecture and storage capacites, this article addresses the storage practices of the settlement. It is argued that in addition to household storage, central storage, as is demonstrated by the discovery of the so-called ›Pithosgebäude‹, played an important role probably under royal control.
