Ein neues Flottendiplom und ein enger Vertrauterdes Antoninus Pius als praefectus classis

Abstract

A new fragment of a military diploma from 150/151 AD belonged to a soldier coming from one of the Italic imperial fleets of which the exact designation has not survived. But considering the external physical shape it can be assigned to the fleet at Ravenna. C. Tattius Maximus is most likely the praefectus classis. Though he has so far not been attested in this office, he appears in a list of praefecti praetorio under Antoninus Pius from 158 to 160. This conclusion leads to more prosopographical information about the praefecti of the Italian fleets under Antoninus Pius.
