Synopsis
Abstract A manuscript by Friedrich Schober and Erich Gose on a topographical trip to Phokis in 1926, which is kept at the DAI archive in Athens and which had remained forgotten for many decades, was only recently edited and discussed. This paper outlines the investigations leading to the successive rediscovery of the manuscript and its related archival material, the identification of the two authors, and the reconstruction of the later life of one of them, Friedrich Schober, whose fate after the second World War had remained unknown to the academic community. The following pages recount the tracing of his biography through various employments as a secondary school teacher for Greek and Latin in a number of towns of Western Germany until his death.
