The volumes of the series Bildkatalog der Skulpturen des Vatikanischen Museums contain a complete photographic record of the sculptures of the Vatican with a representative bibliography, archive information and index. From life-size statues of mythological heroes to portraits of anonymous Romans to the humble Cippus, all objects have been documented with great care. The high-quality photographs show many objects in several different views. The picture catalogues, in which the material is arranged chronologically and typologically, provide a richly illustrated supplement to the catalogue texts by W. Amelung, Die Sculpturen des Vaticanischen Museums I (Berlin 1903) and II (Berlin 1908).
