Altertümer von Pergamon
The Hellenistic-Roman city and royal residence of Pergamon has been one of the German Archaeological Institute's largest excavations for 130 years. While the excavation was begun in 1878 with the aim of recovering the reliefs of the Pergamon Altar, which had become known at the time, systematic research into the entire ancient city organism has been at the forefront for over 100 years.
The Altertümer von Pergamon series documents the excavation results of this major project. The volumes are published in loose sequence and mainly deal with buildings and building complexes together with the individual artefacts discovered within them.
