Das Deutsche Archäologische Institut
The series Das Deutsche Archäologische Institut. Geschichte und Dokumente brings together contributions that deal with the more than 180-year history of the institute, which was founded in Rome in 1829 as a private institution under the name Instituto di Corrispondenza Archeologica. The series was founded to mark the 150th anniversary of the DAI with the aim of reflecting on the historical development of the institution as part of the history of science in the 19th and 20th centuries. The monographs presented in the series are documentations and accounts of historical events, biographies of people who had a decisive influence on the development of the institute, scientific plans and undertakings as well as the internal and external organization of the DAI. Material from the DAI archives has been systematically indexed and made available to the public in printed form for the first time.
