Abstract
The first part of the article publishes some unknown photographs from the excavation of V. Staïs in the sanctuary of Poseidon on Cape Sounion in 1906 showing the two colossal kouroi and some related bases. The images are an occasion to discuss the original location of those statues before the construction of the late Archaic temple. The second part of the article concerns the ›Samos-Istanbul kouros‹ found in the Heraion on Samos where it was excavated smashed into many pieces. A fragment of the right hand, kept to date in the storerooms on the site, has been recognized as belonging to this sculpture.
