Wohnen in der klassischen Polis

The series Wohnen in der klassischen Polis examined various aspects of the topics of urban planning and development, housing construction and the living situation of the residents of various Greek poleis from the classical to the late Hellenistic period. The project is an interdisciplinary work by archaeologists, philologists, economists, sociologists and building researchers. Architecture does not stand on its own here, but is thought of in the context of the political systems of the poleis with a special focus on the Hippodamian system with its isonomic city planning and its typical houses. The series deepens the investigations both in completed monographs on specific topics and in a symposium volume, in whose contributions the controversy surrounding the ability of architecture to express itself about political systems is discussed by various sides and scientists from different disciplines.
