Kalapodi

The Kalapodi series presents the final publication of the results of the excavations and investigations into individual monuments and groups of finds from the sanctuary at Kalapodi in central Greece, which began in 1973. This sanctuary exhibits cult continuity from the 14th century BC to the Roman imperial period and thus represents a unique finding on the Greek mainland. Research into the cult precinct thus offers a unique opportunity to investigate continuity and change in a Greek sanctuary over such a long period of time. The research is also of particular importance for the insights into the phase of the so-called “Dark Centuries”.
