Abstract
During the excavations in the Sottomonte area (Corso Italia) of Sorrento in 2022–2023, a sector of the roman necropolis of ancient Surrentum emerged. Thanks to an archaeological analysis conducted with scientific methods, it was possible to understand many aspects of its construction and its phases of life, up to its burial, due to the eruption of 79 AD, and beyond. The columbarium monument was built on an imperial property and was used by servants and freedmen linked to the emperor.
