Abstract
Original title: Forschungen zur Anlage, Ausdehnung und Infrastruktur des Heiligtums von Kalapodi. Die Kampagnen 2014 – 2016
After earlier excavations of the sanctuary of Kalapodi in central Greece had focused on exploring the two multi-phase temple sites, a new research program launched in 2014 concentrated on the layout, expansion, and infrastructure of the sanctuary. A major theme of the campaign is the question of whether – and if so, where – settlement structures may have been located in the vicinity of the sanctuary. Further objectives included establishing the boundaries of the sanctuary and its subdivision into sacred and functional spaces. From 2014 to 2016, geophysical prospections were carried out for this purpose, and these were followed by test trenches at select sites in 2015/2016. Moreover, as early as 2014, restoration and site-management measures on the premises began to be planned and then implemented. The present report gives an initial survey of ongoing research at present.
