Abstract

The article features the Roman portraits from an excavation in Chios (city). The group of finds probably came together as a material collection. The portraits date from the middle of the 1st cent. A.D. to the middle of the 3rd cent. A. D. The find complex is important primarily for proving the existence of portraits of female members of the Imperial Roman upper class. It is uncertain where the portraits were made. In Chios, they have so far proven unique.
